Company’s Background

Newland Real Estate is the leading real estate firm in the U.S. Virgin Islands, and it is a family owned and operated business. It is currently owned and operated by April Newland and, her son, Scott Newland.

Newland Real Estate was originally formed in 1957 under the name Moran Real Estate. Moran Real Estate was founded by April’s parents, Roger and Evelyn Moran, after they moved to the U.S. Virgin Islands from Michigan City, Indiana. Roger Moran played an integral role in creating the current real estate zoning laws, as well, as forming and establishing the St. Thomas Board of Realtors and the Virgin Islands Territorial Association of Realtors. After moving to St. Thomas, Roger and Evelyn began buying, selling, and developing land. April Newland received her broker’s license at the age of 18 and began her career working alongside Roger and Evelyn. In 1976, April and her brother, Terry Moran, formed Newland Moran Real Estate, and they had multiple offices in St. Thomas (located in Royal Dane Mall, Mahogany Run, and their historic building in Charlotte Amalie), as well as, in St. Croix, St. John, and the Dominican Republic. April has also been very successful in selling property in St. Barts, French West Indies. April has served as a Regional Vice President and the National Director of the National Association of Realtors, as well as, on over 29 Realtor committees nationally. April was featured on the cover of Realtor Magazine, which was distributed to 1.5 million Realtors, and she also represented the Virgin Islands at the Caribbean Convention held by the Department of the Interior in San Francisco, where she had the opportunity to speak along with representatives from TLC’s reality show Million Dollar Agent (featured in the Robb Report), Elegance in Living, the International Herald Tribune, and several other international publications.
